Cashew Cream Sauce
Are you vegan, or do you have friends that are vegan? Here is a recipe for a delicious cream sauce that uses no animal products. Of course, you don’t have to be a vegan to try it!
Ingredients
One cup raw cashew nuts
One teaspoon sea salt
Two teaspoons onion powder (not onion salt)
Two tablespoons corn starch
One tablespoon yeast flakes
One tablespoon mock-chicken seasoning
One and one-half cups water.
Save the water on the side, and place all the other ingredients in your blender. Blend the ingredients on high for about two minutes. When it is smooth, you are ready for the next step. There should be no feeling of graininess when you rub the mixture between your fingers.
Pour the mixture into a sauce pan. Now you will add the one and one-half cups of water to your blender. Turn on your blender for a few seconds. Pour the water into the sauce pan. Heat it to a boil, stirring it constantly to keep it from sticking to the pan or lumping up. When it has thicken, remove it from the heat.
